Borbas Receives Governor’s Occupational Safety and Health Award, again!
For the third year in a row, the Borbas team has been recognized and honored for its commitment to safety.
John Beattie, PLS, health and safety officer for the company, accepted the award on behalf of all the employees of Borbas surveying and Mapping. John explains that safety is a top priority for the company and that the health of our employees means a lot; “it’s not just about making money, it’s about putting other people’s wellbeing first.” One employee stated, “this is the first place that I ever work worked where someone cared about my safety and health!”
Every one of our employees actively participates on our safety committee. President Peter Borbas said “We don’t just sit online watching safety videos, we participate in person in behavioral based health and safety training; our training is interactive and we learn from each other. Safety is not just training or an award for not having an accident, it’s a way of life at Borbas.”
In addition to behavioral based training, team members are trained and certified in some or all of the following: OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER, 10 Hour OSHA construction, Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED, defensive driving, boating, drones, railroads and subways. To build client confidence, our team members participate in regular drug and alcohol testing. Our clients bring us onto their teams not just because of our expertise and capabilities, but because they know that we minimize their overall risk, helping to ensure their projects go smoothly without incident.
Team member Dave says “I rarely feel in harm’s way and that I am supported if I have to change the workflow due to a potential risk. There is a better and safer way around any job with the right people, plan and practice in place.
